Ocean Liner Art Print of the RMS Parthia by Artist John Stewart
Parthia and her
sistership, Media, were built for the route between Liverpool and New York as
all First Class cargo passenger liners and served the company from 1948 until
1961. While slower than the more illustrious liners of the era, they did offer
a certain comfort and luxury that proved popular with a number of celebrities,
one being Kathleen Hepburn. This comfort was provided by the use of Denny
Stabilisers, which were fitted in 1952 and 1954 respectively. Parthia was
purchased by P&O Lines and was to be sold several times further before her
eventual scrapping in 1970.
