Cunard's flagship since 2004, Queen Mary 2 (QM2) was built in France and launched in 2003. She was designed by a team led by Stephen Payne and was always intended as a large Ocean Liner, rather than a standard cruise ship. As such, she has more power and can maintain higher speeds to enable her to cross the Atlantic in a reasonable time. At the time of her construction she was the largest and longest passenger ship ever built.
