A Spitfire Mk.IX of 611 Squadron is seen sometime in 1942. 611Sqn were one of the longest operators of the Mk.IX, it entering service with them in July 1942 and the squadron operating a mixed squadron through to July 1944 when it became solely Mk.IX equipped. They would be replaced by North American Mustang Mk.IV in March 1945.
