Hawker Typhoon 198 Squadron Aviation Art Limited Edition Print by Aviation Artist Darryl Legg

Feared by the German tank arm, the Hawker Typhoon provided close air support for British and Canadian forces from the D-Day landings until D-Day.

Although problematic in its early years and suffering from limitations at high altitude, the Typhoon earned an enviable record later in the war and was involved greatly in the closing of Falaise pocket and the subsequent destruction of the German forces within.

This particular aircraft comes from 198 Squadron and was flown by Sgt. Fraser-Petherbridge.

Artist Darryl Legg has been experimenting with a new, looser style for his most recent works and this certainly helps to capture the action and movement involved in the ground attack role.
