London Taxi Birthday Card by Transport Artist Malcolm Root
A feature of London has always been its taxis, the famous “Black Cabs”. Now having gone through numerous incarnations the immediate post-war years saw the introduction of the Austin FX3, a cab that would serve London and other parts of the U.K well for a quarter of a century.
Here we see a scene at Kings Cross in around 1948 with the driver helping to load luggage into the open compartment. Austin FX3 cabs were made even more famous with the release of the film Carry on Cabby in 1960.
